What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Why Colon Hydrotherapy?

The colon, a tube-shaped organ in the body, is essential for processing undigested food, absorbing water into the system, and propelling fecal matter into the rectum where it is eliminated from the body. The broken-down food is pushed through the colon by the rhythmic contraction of the muscles lining the walls of this organ. When functioning properly, the colon serves the vital role of removing toxins from the body and keeping the digestive system running smoothly.

What Is Colon Hydrotherapy?

But unfortunately, the modern diet that is high in sugar, fats, and processed ingredients and low in fiber hinders the effectiveness of the colon. The colon begins to build up fecal matter and toxins that form a thick, gluey layer in the pockets and folds of its walls. This packs the passageways of the colon, allowing more and more feces to stack up and possibly block the bowel.

This fecal compaction begins to trap matter such as undigested cellulose, bacteria, chemicals, viruses, fungi, and even parasites within the body. Eventually, this toxic matter becomes absorbed in the bloodstream, negatively affecting the liver, lymphatic system, lungs, kidneys, thyroid, and other vital organs.

In order to restore the proper functioning of the colon, it is necessary to remove the compacted fecal matter and other toxins from the walls of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy is one popular method for ridding the colon of the potentially poisonous encrusted stool.

What To Expect During Colon Hydrotherapy Treatment

A colon hydrotherapy treatment is typically administered by a trained professional in an office, a special clinic, or a spa. A day or so before the procedure, you will likely be advised to eat light meals and you may need to take an enema.

During the colon hydrotherapy session, you’ll lie on your stomach while the therapist gently inserts a small rigid tube called a speculum a few inches into your rectum. The speculum will then be attached to a plastic hose that connects to a colon irrigation machine.

The colon irrigation machine will slowly and gently begin to flush out the length of your colon with warm, purified water. Depending upon your symptoms and condition, your therapist may choose to add herbs, ozone or enzymes to the water to increase the benefits of the therapy.

As the water flows through your colon, it will cause the muscles in this area to contract and expand rhythmically. This will force out any undigested food, water, and bacteria, as well as gas and mucus that have built up in the colon. This toxic fecal matter will be extracted through an evacuation tube that leads back to the colon irrigation machine. While the colonic therapy is underway, your therapist may perform an abdominal massage or reflexology technique to help loosen and remove as much fecal material as possible from the walls of the colon.

The colon hydrotherapy process is continued until a total of twenty to thirty gallons of water have been flushed through the bowel. Each session will last between thirty and fifty minutes. You should not feel any pain, but you may feel a sensation of warmth as the cleansing proceeds and the toxins are flushed from the body.

After your colon hydrotherapy session, your therapist will likely recommend that you eat light, nourishing meals that are easy to digest, such as organic vegetable soups and broths, fruit and vegetable juices, or peppermint tea. Adding a probiotic supplement to your diet for the next few weeks will help restore the bacterial balance in your colon.

Depending upon your condition and the toxicity of your colon, your colon hydrotherapist may recommend that your colon hydrotherapy session be repeated a few more times. Some therapists even insist that to maintain a well-functioning colon, you may need a colon hydrotherapy session on a more frequent basis.

The Benefits of using Oxygen Cleansers with Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon hydrotherapy helps to remove compacted fecal matter and toxins from the body. There are over the counter preparations that assist in colon cleansing. Some preparations use herbs or other extracts to carve a hole through the center of the colon passageway. Oxygen colon cleansers are another recommended preparation that uses oxides of magnesium to liquefy and flush out compacted fecal matter from the walls of the upper and lower intestines. Oxygen cleansers are safe and effective at alleviating the compaction in the small intestine, large intestine, and colon. Many therapists use Oxygen cleansers with colon hydrotherapy to help achieve maximum results.
